ST. JEROME SCHOOL KICKS OFF CATHOLIC SCHOOL WEEK WITH OPEN HOUSE

St. Jerome Regional School in Tamaqua kicked off Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 26-31) with an Open House and registration session yesterday for students in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2014-2015 school year. In addition, a breakfast buffet was also held in the morning.

St. Jerome Regional School is open to all and serves the parishes of St. Jerome, SS. Peter & Paul, St. Richard and surrounding parishes. The academic program meets the national, state and diocesan standards.

Parents and students are welcome to visit the school, meet teachers, review the curriculum and view student work and all the facilities.

Additional registration dates and times this week will be: 1-3 PM, Jan. 27; 4-6 PM, Jan. 28; 1-3 PM, Jan. 29; 6-7 PM, Jan. 30; and 9-11 PM, Jan. 31.The Bishop’s Commission on Catholic Schools will offer tuition transfer grants to students who transfer into second to seventh grades from any private or public school.

Catholic School Week activities will also include:>Monday, Jan. 27 Catholic Schools: In Our Community starts with Liturgy at 9 a.m. in St. Jerome Church with special morning prayer for the community, followed by a story hour for pre-K, kindergarten and first grade, as seventh and eighth grade students read to the younger students;
>Tuesday, Jan. 28 Catholic Schools: In Our Students with students dressing in school colors to show school spirit and the Home & School Association will offer lunch and ice-cream treat for the students;
 >Wednesday, Jan. 29 Catholic Schools: In Our Nation will feature students showing American pride by dressing in red/white/blue with a prayer service for veterans and flag coloring activity;
>Thursday, Jan. 30 is Catholic Schools: In Our Vocations. Students will pray the rosary for vocations and Kim Zardet, the MCA director for the Diocese of Allentown, will present a program about missionary work and the MCA (students may wear a hat representing a vocation or profession for 50 cents for the missions);
>Friday, Jan. 31 will be Catholic Schools: In Our Faculty, Staff and Volunteers. Volunteers will receive cards from students and faculty, while staff will be treated to a special luncheon. Grandparents will be able to join their grandchildren for a special morning treat at 9:30 AM, followed by a program at 10 AM. Dismissal time on Jan. 31 will be 1 PM.
