Parishioners of the Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church (ECC), 223 East Broad Street, in Tamaqua held a re-opening service on Sunday, October 19, 2014 following major church renovations. The work, most of which performed by church parishioners volunteers, was done during the 18 months closure of the East Broad Street (US209) bridge. During that time, the church held their contemporary services at the Tamaqua Y.M.C.A. located at the B.E.T. Plaza.
Improvements and renovations included new stage, dividing walls, paint job, carpet, sound booth, and heating and air conditioning.

Pastor Kevin Roberts stated that the renovations couldn’t have happened without the dedication and sponsorship of numerous individuals.
The program listed the following contractors who completed the renovations:
Jay Hollenbach, Jr., Jay Hollenbach Plumbing and Heating, Jerome Betz, Electrical Contractor, Paul Nemeth, Paul’s Drywall Service, Scott Kobal, Scott Kobal Flooring, Rodney Clouser, Faith Contracting Services and others.
During the service, Reverend Kevin Roberts recognized many volunteers who helped in any way – including demolition, construction, clean up, painting, staining, refinishing, clean up, and feeding the volunteers.
