Tamaqua Borough crews and PennDOT crews could be seen clearing snow from area roadways.
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement calling for heavy snow to continue to fall until around 5 AM, then normal snow-fall until til 10 AM.
The statement reads:
… HEAVY SNOW DEVELOPING WITH RATES OF 1-2 INCHES PER HOUR EXPECTED THROUGH THE PREDAWN HOURS… EXPECT RAPID CHANGEOVER TO ALL SNOW IN THE LOWER SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY BY 4AM. HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE PREDAWN HOURS WITH RATES OF 1-2 INCHES PER HOUR. LOCALIZED RATES IN EXCESS OF 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE WITH OCCASIONAL THUNDERSNOW.
