The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 5 announced today (Thursday, October 15, 2015) that PA 443 will be resurfaced in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County.
The pavement improvement project is financed with state funds from Pennsylvania’s transportation plan, Act 89. The project includes road milling and paving, guiderail upgrades and new pavement markings on PA 443 between PA 309 and the Carbon County line.
Beginning tomorrow, Oct. 16, and lasting through the duration of the project, motorists can expect weekday lane closures from 7 PM to 7 PM. Crews may work weekends if necessary.
Motorists are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones.
These precautions are not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.
Lehigh Asphalt Paving & Construction Co. of Tamaqua, PA is the general contractor on the $2,588,400 project. All work is expected to be complete in August 2016.
The average daily traffic volume on this section of PA 443 is 4,034 vehicles.
