ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHERS AND REPORTERS NEEDED

cropped-square1.pngTo stay up-to-date with local stories and photos, TamaquaArea.com is looking for motivated individuals to help with the website.
All positions are 100% volunteer and open to anybody wanting to donate time to Tamaqua and surrounding communities by sharing important events, photos, videos and local happenings.



Positions needed are:

(5) COMMUNITY NEWS PHOTOGRAPHERS
This position involves taking photos and/or video of events and local happenings and emailing them to any of the editors. No story-writing is required.
– Will require donating a minimum of 3-4 hours a week.
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.

(4) COMMUNITY NEWS REPORTERS
This position involves taking photos/video and doing in-depth story-writing concerning important community matters.
– Will require donating a minimum of 4-5 hours (2 stories) a week.
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. Must be 18 and older. Training will be provided.

(3) EVENT RESEARCH REPORTERS
This position involves finding, researching, receiving and submitting event stories before the event happens.  Stories are not required to be in-depth. This position also involves updating the website calendar daily.
– Will require donating a minimum of 1-2 hours a day (4 days a week).
– Applicants must own a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.

(2) MEETING VIDEOGRAPHERS
This position involves recording videos of local municipal and/or school district meetings and then uploading it to YouTube. Story-writing is not required.
– Will require donating a minimum of 4 hours a week (two meetings).
– Applicants must own video recording device and a camera OR good quality cell phone camera.
– No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Training will be provided.

(2) ASSISTANT EDITORS
This position primarily involves assigning tasks and editing submitted work. It also involves website layout, public relations, organizing staff meetings and training new staff.
– Will require donating a minimum of 2-3 hours a day (4 days a week).
– Applicants must own a camera OR cell phone with good camera.
– No experience necessary. Must be 18 or older. Training will be provided.


Requirements for all applicants:
– Must have respect and pride for everything Tamaqua.
– Must have or create a Facebook account.
– Must have basic computer knowledge and regular access to one.
– Must pass a criminal background check and be (and remain) in good standing in the community.

In the next year or so, we hope to include a sports section and obituary section. Of course, we’ll need applicants for that as well.

Since starting in late 2009, TamaquaArea.com (in its entirety) has received over 1,298,000 online hits. (This number doesn’t include Facebook, Twitter or YouTube views).
