Skeletal remains were found around 4 PM today (Saturday, September 6, 2014) in the mountains southwest of Coaldale.
Unofficial information states the skeletal remains were found by a local resident searching for mushrooms approximately a quarter-mile south of the Seek section of the borough in the area adjacent to a mine road.
The mine roads are routinely walked by residents and traveled by off-roaders.
Coaldale Police and State Police could be seen today driving up a dirt road, located just off West Foster Avenue.
Communication given to TamaquaArea.com via a resident at the scene stated that the remains strongly resembled human remains. The communication noted that a human skull and other human bones (and even a boot) were observed.
No official information has been released stating human remains were found.
Officials are expected to be back at the secured scene on Sunday.
